Master Dissertation

Disstertation requirements

The master dissertation is a research project undertaken a one-year writing up period, culminating in an 12,000-15,000-word disseration.

Citation Style: Please refer to “Notes and Bibliography” of Chicago Manuel of Style (click here).

Word Limits: Charts, tables, graphs, and footnotes are included; bibliography, references, acknowledgement, and table of contents are excluded.

Research resources

The SoH delivers expert postgraduate supervision, delivered by internationally recognised scholars in a wide range of subject areas. The SoH offers a lively research community in the setting of an exciting regional and geographcial with a rich heritage for modern China’s humanities.

Timetable

• Research proposal  (click here)for master dissertation should be finished within the 7th week of the third semester, and submitted to the Graduate School at the same time.

• Mid-term examination for dissertation should be completed before the end of the third semester, and submitted to the Graduate School at the same time.

• Rehearsal for oral defense takes place in the 7th week of the fourth semester.

• Final oral defense takes place in the 14th week of the fourth semester.
