Course Description:

The content of this course is mainly to explore the history of the development of modern Chinese thought, the time span is from 1901 to 1949. The course is centered on the interaction and agitation between Xixue, Lixue and Neo-Confucianism. It represents the main ideological figures of the time, such as Liang Qichao, Zhang Zhidong, Sun Yat-sen, Yan Fu, Hu Shi, etc., with a view to what is modern Chinese thought, its historical background and grasp the whole thread of modern chinese thought, the source of ideas of modern Chinese thought, and what is the interaction and tension between the traditional and anti-traditional aspects of Xixue and modern Chinese thought, with a view to having a complete and clear understanding of modern Chinese thought.
