The MA in Modern Chinese Studies is a two-year program suitable for students who have developed an interest in modern China’s humanities and now want to take that to a higher level. Designed to provide a comprehensive overview of modern Chinese literature, history and philosophy, it involves intensive academic training in three pathways, including Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, and Chinese Philosophy. The program contains compulsory courses, advanced courses and optional courses to extend the students’ knowledge of his/her chosen pathway and to enlarge their interdisciplinary understanding. Students in the program are encouraged to augment their knowledge and understanding of the key approaches and methodologies to humanistic studies in modern China, as well as their ability for research.
